The Nylander Museum was founded by the City of Caribou in 1939 and is dedicated to Olof Nylander, a local Swedish immigrant and self-taught naturalist. The Nylander exhibits geology, marine and freshwater shells, Native American artifacts, medicinal herb garden, and taxidermy Maine animals. Gift shop and brochures. 2002 Summer hours: Memorial to Labor Day, Tuesday - Saturday, 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Off hours by appointment (207)493-4209 and winter after-school hours to be announced. Admission is free. Accessible, parking, gift shop. Children and groups welcome.
